In short
BoardKeep has no accounts, no analytics and no ads. What you save stays on your computer. The only information BoardKeep sends anywhere else is your licence key, to check whether Pro is unlocked.
What stays on your computer
- Downloaded files go to your Downloads folder, like any other download.
- Your library (board names, pin titles and descriptions, pin links, image addresses and the palettes Studio works out), moodboards, Board Sync schedules and the list of pins you’ve already downloaded are kept in Chrome’s storage for the extension, on your computer.
- Settings and the date you started a free trial are kept in Chrome’s synced extension storage. If you use Chrome sync, they follow your Chrome profile to your other computers, like any extension’s settings.
- Backup files you create are saved to your Downloads folder and are yours to keep, move or delete.
What BoardKeep connects to
- Pinterest (pinterest.com and its image servers). BoardKeep reads the boards and pins you open, using the Pinterest session already in that tab, to find the original files. It doesn’t see or store your Pinterest password.
- Our licence service, only if you buy or activate Pro. It runs alongside this website on Cloudflare. When you buy, Paddle tells it about your purchase (its ID, its status, the renewal date for a yearly plan, and your email address so we can send your key) and it creates your licence key. When you activate, BoardKeep sends your key and a label for the computer, such as “Chrome on Mac”. The service keeps those labels so a key works on up to 3 computers, and BoardKeep re-checks the key about once a week.
- Email delivery, only when we email you your key. The message is sent through our email provider.
Payments
Pro is sold by Paddle, our reseller and merchant of record. When you buy, Paddle collects your name, email, billing details and payment information to process the order, send your receipt and licence key, and meet tax rules. Paddle’s privacy policy covers that information. We see your order and email address so we can help with your licence.
What we never do
- We don’t track what you browse, save or search.
- We don’t use analytics, advertising or tracking tools in the extension.
- We don’t sell or share your data.
Deleting your data
Uninstalling BoardKeep removes everything it stored in Chrome. Files in your Downloads folder, including backups, stay until you delete them. To have your purchase details removed, contact us; Paddle keeps transaction records as tax law requires.
