Using BoardKeep

Everything you need, from your first board to moving your library to a new computer.

Install

  1. Open BoardKeep on the Chrome Web Store and click Add to Chrome.
  2. Keep it on your toolbar: click the puzzle-piece icon, then the pin icon next to BoardKeep.
  3. Open Pinterest. A BoardKeep button appears in the bottom corner of the page, and the toolbar icon opens the same panel.

BoardKeep works in Chrome and other Chromium browsers such as Edge, Brave and Arc.

Download a board

  1. Open the board on Pinterest.
  2. Open the BoardKeep panel and click Download all.
  3. Leave the tab open while it works. You can pause or stop at any time.

BoardKeep saves only the pins in the board, never the “More ideas” Pinterest shows underneath. If the board has sections, Download all saves the board’s own pins and then visits each section in turn. Each section gets its own folder inside the board’s.

Pins you’ve already downloaded are skipped, so running a board again only fetches what’s new. You can also start from anywhere: click Download a board in the panel and pick one of your boards or paste a board link.

Single pins

Every pin page has a download button next to Save, and pins in a grid show one when you hover over them. Single pins are free and unlimited.

Pick pins, or scroll a page

Pick pins to download lets you tick the pins you want on any page, then download just those. Scroll & download works on feeds and searches that never end: choose how many pins to grab and BoardKeep scrolls for you.

Where files go

Everything goes into a Pinterest folder in your Downloads (you can rename it in the panel’s options). Pins go into the folder of the page you got them from:

  • a board: Pinterest/Kitchen reno/
  • a section: Pinterest/Kitchen reno/Splashbacks/
  • a search: Pinterest/Search - linen dress/
  • the home feed: Pinterest/Page 2026-10-06/

Files are numbered in board order, like 001_9154620371.jpg. You can switch to titles in the options.

Board Sync Pro

Open a board, click Keep this board in sync and choose daily, weekly or monthly. BoardKeep re-checks the board on that schedule and downloads only the new pins into the same folder. Chrome needs to be open: a quiet background tab does the work and closes itself. You’ll get a notification when new pins arrive.

Studio

Click Open in Studio on any board. Studio shows the board’s pins and pulls out its palette with hex codes. You can build a moodboard and sort pins by colour or subject. With Pro you can export a print-quality lookbook PDF, moodboard images, palettes for Adobe (.ase) and GIMP (.gpl), and download the board sorted into folders.

Backup & restore

Uninstalling a Chrome extension erases what it stored, so BoardKeep keeps your library in a backup file: every board record, moodboard, Board Sync schedule and setting. Your downloaded images are already safe in your Downloads folder.

  • Back up now in Studio saves BoardKeep backup 2026-10-06.boardkeep to Downloads/Pinterest/Backups.
  • With Pro, a backup is saved automatically every week.
  • On a new computer, install BoardKeep, open Studio and click Restore. Restoring adds what’s missing and never overwrites newer work.

Pro and licences

  • Try it: open the panel’s options and click Upgrade, then Try Pro free for 3 days. No card needed.
  • Activate: after buying, paste the licence key from your receipt email into Upgrade → Already bought it? in the panel, or Plan → Go Pro in Studio.
  • Move computers: a licence works on 3 computers. To free one up, open the plan screen on the old computer and click Deactivate on this computer.

If something goes wrong

The panel says “Refresh this page”

BoardKeep updated itself while the tab was open. Click Refresh page and carry on; your library and settings are untouched.

A board stops early or won’t load

Scroll the board a little so Pinterest loads it, then try again. BoardKeep has three ways to read a board and tries each in turn. If Pinterest has changed something, an update usually follows within a day or two.
